From Humble Beginnings

Yorkshire based world food pioneers, Regal Foods, are celebrating 20 wonderful years of providing the UK, the world, and many diverse communities with the taste of traditional and modern food and drink delights.

Founded in the heart of Bradford from humble beginnings, Regal Foods has seen monumental growth and major success in the twenty years since it was born. Founded in 2001, Regal Foods set out to cater for the South Asian community by firstly supplying local corner and grocery stores in and round Yorkshire, the Regal bug soon caught and people all over the UK were keen to experience the unique taste of Regal and the delicious delights the baking company had to offer. By 2005 Regal Foods reached new heights beyond UK based smaller grocery stores and saw its very first line-up of products hit the shelves in their first major supermarket! By the end of 2005 one supermarket led to another as other major supermarket chains featured Regal products on their world food aisles.

One of Regal Foods first products to launch and one that brought Regal Foods to the front of the line was their famous Cake Rusk – A crunchy, double-baked cake bar that is a real classic South Asian classic snack. The famous cake rusk collection now includes 18 varieties and flavours of this deliciously baked tea-time treat. Regal Foods soon expanded their bakery lines offering puff pastries, cakes, biscuits and much more.

With new bakery and confectionery lines added to the range, the taste of Regal soon spread overseas to Europe and by 2008 Regal hit the supermarket shelves in six other countries. Regal Foods were keen to expand beyond bakery and confectionary goodies and introduced for the very time a selection of refreshing tropical juices. Regal grew stronger and stronger and so did their product lines! By 2019 Regal Foods were now shipping their fine selection of goods to over fifty different countries, including the United States of America and Canada. The taste of Regal is now on a global scale and one that has become a firm family favourite within not only the south Asian household, but beyond – bringing food to life for everyone to enjoy!

In 2018 the bakery arm to Regal Foods, Regal Bakery was nominated among the top 10 nations favourite bakeries by The Grocer – a leading magazine within the food industry. The listing saw the Yorkshire born company listed among other big major household favourites, such as Mr Kipling and Cadbury.

Many products are now a part of the Regal Foods line-up and features 100’s of products. Traditional savoury snacks, tropical juices, crisps and popcorn, sweets and candyfloss, condiment sauces, cooking marinades, green tea’s and so much more, now make up the diverse selection of tasty food and drinks that the world food pioneers now have to offer.

Over the last 20-year Regal Foods have received many awards that have highlighted their success, recognition and contribution to the food industry and the community, among these awards are Halal Manufacture of the Year, New Products Award – by The Grocer and the Power Business of the Year – awarded by The English Asian Business Awards.

In 2019 CEO Younis Chaudhry was invited to the Bradford Means Business award ceremony where he was awarded the prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year Award. An award which highlighted his successful career of building on a brand that started out life from humble beginnings. The year after in 2020 CEO Younis Chaudhry represented Bradford businesses at the Bradford City Hall in what only can described as “royal meeting”, where he was invited to meet with the Duke of Cambridge and the Duchess of Cambridge.

One area of work that is at the forefront of what Regal is about, is the support for the local and wider community and the support of charities. Over the last 20 incredible years Regal Foods have supported many local charities and relief projects, not only in the UK but also around world. From supporting local hospices to the sponsoring of many sporting clubs and associations. Recently Regal Foods were extremely proud and honoured to be support the Shahid Afridi Foundation in providing free school meals to children living poverty who attend the Wadoodia Muhallah school in Karachi. Provided by Regal, free school meals were catered for 216 children who are currently living in the poorest of communities and conditions. Charity is at the heart of this inspiring company and this is just one example of what the community means to Regal.
